Illustrator Comic Guy for AIGA Workshop

I have some buddies in the Seattle design community that are looking for a comic/illustrator guy to do a workshop for LINK. Link is part of the Seattle AIGA chapter and the workshops are for high school kids that are interested in design and graphics (and yeah, illustration too!) They last about half day on a weekend. I've done a few of these and they are fun stuff, you show your work do a quick project and answer some questions. So if you're feelin' all mentor-ish contact me at and I'll forward you on. Thanks!

Only five submissions so far, so I’d say your odds are pretty good! J

Deadline is September 1ST

Best Illustration = $500
Best Sculpture = $500
Best Animation = $500
Best of Show = $1,500

Best of my wishes,
Kamal Siegel ;)

Not the prettiest of sketch pages but I had fun with the
brush pen! Weird guy and guinea pigs by Emily.

Since 2007 I've been posting a sketch/doodle/whatever every week on my site. I'll be continuing this trend here on my blog and on my new site:

TAG Comic Book update

Here's an update on the TAG comic book... I need to do some research to see just how much it will cost.  That will inform the discussion we need to have- namely, how much does each contributor pay?  Do we do it by the page?  Will we have color in this thing, or will it be all B & W?  We will want to have a few pages in the book for an introduction and bios, as well as a page or two for signing/drawing on.

Emerald City comic con has started selling tables in Artist Alley.  Here are the details:  http://www.emeraldcitycomicon.com/artist-alley/  They have sold out before, and there's a lot of folks already listed for next year, so if you want to sell books and other stuff, I would suggest getting on this now.  There aren't any rules about sharing tables, so 2 people can share a table to cut costs.

Call for Entries for a TAG Comic Book!

Okay, I'm going to officially kick this off... who wants in on a TAG anthology comic book?  I figure if we start now and we get 10-15 artists to contribute we can print up loads of copies and have them to sell/trade by the 2013 convention season.  Specifically, I would want to target the book being done for ECCC 2013.

At this point I'm just interested in a show of hands... who's with me?

I've reset the date on this post so that it would stay sticky and on the top of the blog for a bit.  If we get enough interest I'll probably start a new blog just for the comic book.

Please return my sketchbook!

SMASH AND GRAB... someone broke into my car tonight (the Fremont area of Seattle) and stole my backpack that had volume 10 of my graphic novel art in it! Along with my classic iPod, parking remote for work, brand new noise canceling headphones,... glass all over the interior of the car and I had to drive home on three freeways with no side window at 1am.
If anyone would like to help and put up some of these flyers around the Fremont area of Seattle, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you.

-Mike

TLC workshops

Hello!  I just wanted to post a flyer here about the TLC workshops.  I went to the Justin Gerard one, and thought that other people in the TAG group might also benefit (and could possibly teach) at these workshops.  Tara Chang, the illustrator who is organizing these, has some amazing artists interested in participating, so keep an eye on http://tlcworkshops.blogspot.com/ for new info.

I have a new website at http://amsartor.com/, seelie.com is still running but will be taken down at some point in the future.

Life Drawing?

I've had some people express interest in adding life drawing to TAG.  My instinct is to keep the 1st Tuesday of the month for a regular TAG meeting and create a second monthly(?) meeting for the life drawing.  What do you folks think?

@TAGnorth

I've created a Twitter profile for TAG... It's called @TAGnorth but I consider it something that both the original TAG group as well as our group up here could enjoy getting info from.  If you follow it, then I will follow you and retweet stuff that might be of interest to all.  Check it out!

Here's some process work from a personal project I'm working on. It will eventually be a 2d sidescroller in the (hopefully) not too distant future.
